For yet another year, our school organizes a Bulgarian language and literature exam in collaboration with Sofia University (SU). The test serves for the acquisition of a Certificate of Proficiency in Bulgarian as a Foreign Language. This is an internationally recognized certificate with indefinite validity that certifies the level of Bulgarian language proficiency according to the Common European Framework (CEFR) and according to the standards of the Association of Language Testing Centers in Europe (ALTE). Students will take a B2 level test, which is equivalent to the Massachusetts "Seal of biliteracy with distinction".
Who organizes the exam?
The exam (written and oral part) will be organized by the Academic Director of the school Silviya Mihaleva with the school administrator Zdravka Nikolova serving as a proctor.
When will the exam be held?
On Sunday, April 7 at 9:00 a.m. local time (4:00 p.m. Bulgarian time). The duration of the exam is about 5-6 hours.

What does the exam include?
The exam consists of two parts - an oral exam (speaking) and a written exam (listening, reading and writing).
The oral exam includes an interview, two dialogues based on given situations, a monologue and a comment on a given text or picture.
The written exam is performed on a computer and includes 3 sections:
Listening with understanding;
Reading Comprehension;
Writing - two tasks for writing a text of a given length on a given topic.
The obtained seal and certificate are recognized by many schools in the state, and are also considered as a final grade when applying to Bulgarian higher education institutions. The minimum age to appear for this exam is 14 years.
How to prepare for the exam?
Our school is organizing a Preparatory Course which starts now on February 1st. The course will be led by Silvia Mihaleva and Petya Koeva and includes 10 sessions of one astronomical hour each and will be held online every Thursday from 7 pm. The fee for the preparatory course is $150.
